The goal of this project was to create a course that demonstrates our basic understanding and utilization of Adobe Captivate 9 software. Captivate is a course authoring software that gives you all the features and functionality needed to create a self contained course. The project was open ended, but I decided to focus on making a prototype of a Microsoft Excel course that could be offered to the students in my classes. I had to really break down each part of what I wanted the learner to get out of and interact with the course. Then I had to figure out how that would look in Captivate and execute.
This was my first time working with any formal course authoring software. While I really enjoy learning new technologies, the biggest downfall to Captivate is the the learning curve. There are so many options and ways to go about creating the course in Captivate that is can be over whelming. However, once you get the lay of the land, it becomes much easier. Also, their are a ton of free stuff that you can use and import into your Captivate projects. Even better is that the Captivate allows you to create responsive courses to fit the shape and size of the learning devices that could be used.
I am looking forward to exploring this software more and looking to implement it into my own classes.
